Strumming Variations are regarded as one of the fundamental and significant musical forms that have thrived since the Renaissance to the present day, due to the essential technical and expressive elements they encompass, which have a profound impact on any student in helping them connect the musical materials they study, such as harmony, counterpoint, and musical improvisation. This form is one of the models of instrumental composition, and the melody upon which the variations are based is referred to as the theme, and its idea is derived either from a folk song or a well-known melody, as in the study sample (Le Carnaval des Venise), where both (F. Liszt) and (J. Ch. Hess) created variations on the same theme.
