Abstract:
ABSTRACTTheaimofthisresearchwastoevaluatetheinfluenceoflettuceseedoil(LSO)ontheperfor-mance,carcassyield,kidneyandliverindices,immunity,lipidprofile,andcecalmicrobiotaoffatteningchicks.Atotalof200,7-day-oldCobb-500weredistributedinto5experimentalgroups;eachgroupcontained5replicateswith8birdseach.Thefirstgroup1)thebasaldiet(only);2)thebasaldietpluslettuceseedoil(0.50mL/kg);3)thebasaldietpluslettuceseedoil(1.00mL/kg);4)thebasaldietpluslettuceseedoil(1.50mL/kg);and5)thebasaldietpluslettuceseedoil(2.00mL/kg).Nosignificanteffectwasobservedongrowthperformance,carcasstraits,orkidneyfunctionatanylevelofoil.But,liverfunctionwassignificantlyaffectedduetoLSOlev-els.Serumlipidprofiles(totalcholesterol—TC,triglyc-eride—TG,low-densitylipoprotein—LDL,andverylow-densitylipoprotein—VLDL)weresignificantlyreducedbyusingLSOlevelscomparedtothecontrolgroup.DietaryLSOsignificantlyincreasedimmunologi-calandantioxidantparameters,exceptformalondialde-hyde-MDA,whichwasreduced.Ontheotherhand,thececalmicrobiotawassignificantlyimprovedbyLSOadditives.Itwasconcludedthatthedietarysupplemen-tationofLSOhadbeneficialeffectsonliverandkidneyfunctions,lipidprofile,immunity,antioxidantparame-ters,andthebacteriologyoffatteningchicks.
