phytochemical investigation of the light petroleumand ethylacetate extracts of the leaves and stems of ficus elastica roxb. var. decora (family moraceae) resulted in the isolation of a new natural compound viz.1-O-caffeoyl-D-mannitol other separated compounds were mortenone, glutinol, mortenol, lupeol, B-sitosterol, sakuranin and kampferol-3-o- rutinoside.the structure of these compounds were elucidated using spectroscopic and chemical evidences and by comparison with those reported in literature
