Abstract:
Hatchery sanitation has attracted the attention ofseveral workers. The chicken hatcheries with their hightemperature and high relative humidity provide an almostoptimal microclimate for the occurrence and development ofseveral fungi. The a1m of this work 1S to determine var10US fungicontaminating eggs in the hatcheries and to correlate betweentheir occurrence on eggs (shell and contents)and the generalhatchery sanitation. Meanwhile, to find the possibility offungal egg shell penetration which may lead to spoilage ofeggs and to lower ing the i r ha tchab i 1 i ty percentage due toincreased dead-in-shell embryo. Moreover, it was of utmostimportan t to eva 1 ua t e some chemi ca 1 d i s infec tan ts to be usedas a control measure to improve poultry industry.Sampling was conducted 1n 6 different incubators 1n twosuccessive cycles for each incubator. The average settingcapacity of eggs in each incubator was 17000 eggs. A total ofthree hundred and sixty random egg samples, thirty SlXincubator a i r samples and another thirty six wall sampleswere collected under complete aseptic conditions and weretransferred after their labelling to the laboratory. The obtained results revealed the followings:1- Out of 36 a1r samples, 35 samples were positive (97.2%)
