Abstract:
Maduramicin ammonium is a mono glycoside polyether ionophorous antibiotic produced by a strain of Actinomadura .yumaensis. It has beenshown to possess broad spectrum anti coccidial activity against most commercially important species of coccidia at a level of 5-7 ppm of feed.A voparcin is a glycopeptide antibiotic produced by a strain of Streptomyces Candidus. It is used as growthpromoting agent for broiler chickens at a level of 10-15 ppm of feed. These drugs are routinely used in poultry farms from one day of age and througEffects on tile growth rate, feed consumption and efficiency of feedutilizatio Our results revealed that recorpnended’ or double doses ofavoparcm significantly increased live body weight, body weight gain andefficiency of feed utilization as compared with the control. There was nosignificant difference in the effects between recommended] or doubletherapeutic doses of avoparcin. The recommended doses of maduramicinsignificantly increased the live body weight, body gain and efficiency offeed utilization as compared with the control. whereas, the effect of
