Abstract:
this study investigates the various facets of power relations to reach a conclusion as to where power lies by examining three mametian’s plays. The thesis is divided into three main chapters: Oleanna (1992) House of Games (1987) and American Buffalo (1978). The three chapters are preceded by Introduction and followed by Conclusion. David Mamet succeeds to present a world of struggle for power by means of words and actions. Language in the three plays is an effective technique that contributes to the power conflict. Oleanna is a play that offers a two-fold picture of power relations.
