Abstract:
T.S. Eliot (1888-1965) dominated English poetry and exercised full control over the period he dominated so completely and with such constancy that George sampson is persuaded to describe the period as ” The age of T.S. Eliot” (841-938). His poetry, in the eyes of Helen Gardner, ” has modified our reding of earlier poetry” and ” has affected our taste and judgment , by awakening responses to what we otherwise not have noticed”... ( The Art of T.S. Eliot 3).T.S. Eliot can be called a ”time” poet. This is due to the fact that the problem of time is handled by him in most of his poems, plays and criticism to the degree that makes walter } was observed with time” .benjamin declare that ”he {eliot}Four Quartets is not only Eliot’s masterpiece and ”crowning achievement” and ” the masterpiece ofof modern English poetry”However, the present study is divided into five chapters, preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion and runs as follows:Chapter 1: The question of time and T.S.Eliot.Chapter 2 : ”Burnt Norton”.Chapter 3 : ”East Coker”.Chapter 4 : ”The dry Salvages”.Chapter 5 : ”Little Gidding”.
