Abstract:
Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) is an annual green herb with edible uses. Several biological properties have been attributed to P. oleracea: antiseptic, antispasmodic, diuretic, antibacterial, analgesic and anti-inflammatory. This study was done to estimate the optimum rate of fertilizer to obtain higher productivity of plant and its active constituent. Substituted of mineral fertilizer with organic fertilizer to obtain clean production of plant and its active constituents. Finally, evaluation the hypolipidemic effect of P. oleracea seeds or its extracts by using hyperlipidemic rats.A-Results of agricultural study could be summarized as followed:NPK ratio of 200:100:50 kg/fed. was the best treatments during the first and second seasons, it produced the highest; plants height (87.00 and 90.33 cm respectively), fresh weight of leaves (220.68 and 289.07 g/plant respectively), dry weight of leaves (21.41 and 27.20 g/plant respectively), fresh weight of aerial parts (911.52 and 1085.80 83.50 g /plant respectively) and dry one (83.50 and 98.19 g /plant respectively), yield of leaves fresh and dry (7.06 and 0.69 ton/fed. at the first season, 9.25 and 0.87 ton/fed. respectively), fresh yield of aerial parts (29.17 and 34.75 ton/fed. respectively) and dry one (2.67 and 3.14 ton/fed. respectively), fresh and dry weight of stems on the first season (796.73 and 70.99 g/plant respectively) as well as the fresh and dry yield of stems (25.50 and 2.27 ton/fed. respectively), total carbohydrates content in the second season, 33.01 g/aerial parts and 1056.26 kg/fed. , soluble sugars content and yield 6.86 and 7.99 g/plant, 219.55 and 255.90 kg/fed.in 1st and 2nd seasons, respectively, crude lipids content and yield 2.63 and 3.57 g/plant, 84.02 and 114.13 kg/fed. respectively, N% of leaves 3.93% and 4.20% respectively, N% of stems 2.94% and 3.21% respectively, N content and yield 2.697 and 3.42 g/plant, 85.43 and 109.61 kg/fed. respectively, protein % in leaves and stems 24.58% and 26.23%, 18.40% and 20.06% respectively, protein content and yield, 16.69 and 21.37 g/plant, 533.97 and 683.96 kg/fed. respectively, P content and yield 0.175 and 0.199 g/plant, 5.619 and 6.376 kg/fed. respectively, K%, on leaves and stems 3.14% and 3.01% 5.49% and 5.63% respectively, K-content and yield 4.08 and 4.82 g/plant, 130.55 and 154.22 kg/fed. respectively.
