Effect of Sowing Method and Fertilization on Wheat (Triticum Aestivum L.) Under Sandy Soil Conditions

Abstract:
Two field experiments were carried out in the Experimental farm, El-Khattara region, Faculty of Agriculture, Zagazig University Sharkia Governorate, Egypt during two winter successive seasons (2007/2008 – 2008/2009) to study the effect of sowing method, micronutrients and nitrogen fertilizer level on growth, yield attributes, yield and quality of wheat The results indicated to the superiority of broadcasting method in plant height, spike length, number of fertile spikelets/spike, number of spikelets/spike and number of grains/spike. While, drilling method gave the highest straw yield, biological yield and protein content%. whereas, cross rows method gave the highest number of spikes/m2, grain yield, harvest index, carbohydrate yield and protein yield Micronutrients treatments caused significant increase in most growth characters as well as grain yield, straw yield, number of grains/spike, 1000-grain weight, carbohydrate yield and protein yield Most growth characters as well as number of spikes/m2, number of grains/spike, grain yield, straw yield, biological yield, carbohydrate and protein contents showed a positive significant response to N increments up to 70 or 105 kg N/fad Correlation analysis showed positive and significant relationships between grain yield/fad and all yield components Path analysis indicated that number of spikes/m2 and number of grains/spike as well as their interaction were the main sources of grain yield/fad.
