Abstract:
This research aimed to study some factors affecting on the sprayer performance to achieve its ability to pesticide orchard trees with high field efficiency. The main experiment was carried out during the agricultural seasons 2010 and 2011 at Zagazig, Sharkia Governorate, using a knapsack air carrier sprayer under nine treatments with different solution flow rates (50.3, 78.4, 116.5 L/h) and different air velocities (17.5, 23, 27.5 m/s) to measure the deposition of solution and distribution of droplets . Also, a sprayer was used for spraying Guava and Citrus trees to pesticide Citrus leaf miners in Citrus and Red scale insect in Guava.from the obtained data it was concluded that, the best deposition of solution was achieved optimum at air velocity of (23m/s) for the three flow rates. The optimum spray deposit intensity ratio of covered area per leaves (λ) was achieved at air velocity of 27.5 m/s for all treatments. The highest mortality percentages were at Citrus and Guava by using 2nd and 3rd flow rates for each air velocity. In general, it is recommended to spray by using a knapsack air carrier sprayer at 23 m/s air velocity with flow rate of 78.4 or 116.5 L/h for spraying trees according to its size.
