Abstract:
Okra, pea and green pepper plants were sprayed once with malathion, pirimiphos-methyl and methomyl at a concentration of 0.1425, 0.1875 and 0.0675 % a. i., respectively, during the 2005 growing season. The insecticidal dilution was applied at a rate of 200 litters / feddan. The residues of the applied insecticides were determined colorimetrically in the fruits, leaves and soil at different intervals of the treatment. The effect of washing treated vegetable fruits with tap water and cooking process (blenching and fraying) on reducing the insecticide residues was estimated. The cut of periods after which the edible parts of such crops could be consumed by man was also detected.
