Diallel Analysis Of Earliness Characters, Yield And Yield Components In Bread Wheat (Triticum Aestivum L.)

The present investigation was conducted at Kafer El-Hamam Agriculture Research Station, Agriculture Research Center, Egypt, during 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 to estimate, mean performance, heterosis, general and specific combining ability and types of gene action for earliness and grain filling characters, yield and its attributes and protein content under two sowing dates, i.e. 9th of November (early sowing date) and 9th of December (late sowing date).The results indicated high degree of genetic variability existed among parental wheat genotypes and their F1 crosses for earliness and grain filling characters, yield and its attributes and protein content under the two sowing dates. The local wheat genotype Sids 4 and the exotic Line 28 and their F1 crosses (Sids 4 × Line 28), (Sakha 93 ×Line 28), (Sids 4× Sakha 93) and (Sids 4× Giza 168) exhibited good level of earliness under both sowing dates. The local parental cultivars Giza 168, Sakha 93 and the exotic Line 28 and their F1 crosses (Sids 4 × Sakha 93), (Sids 4 × Line 28), (Gemmeiza 9 × Giza 168) and (Line 28 × Giza 168) gave the highest productivity under both sowing dates.
