Abstract:
Sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L) is considered one of the most important sugar production crops grown all over the world.In Egypt, Sugar beet crop has been cultivated as a commercial sugar crop since 1982 in Kafer El-Sheik and now (2009) the plantation area covered the north and the northeast of delta as well as the middle and upper Egypt.Sugar beet known to be attacked by a numerous of foliage destructive diseases, such as Cercospora leaf spot(CLS), Phoma leaf spot, Powdery mildew and Alternaria leaf spot as well as Leaf rust. These destructive diseases limiting the production of sugar beet in many areas of the world. In Egypt the economic sugar beet foliar disease is Cercospora leaf spot.
