Abstract:	Cinnamoyl isothiocyanate (1) was utilized in the synthesis of a number of pyrimidines by the reaction with enaminone 2, aniline or cyano(thio)acetamide. Also 1 reacted with ethylcyanoacetate to give an intermediate which was then condensed with guanidine, aniline, and/or hydrazine hydrate.
