Abstract:
5. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONField experiments were carried out at El-Deeb village, Abou-Kbeer district, Sharkia Governorate during 2003-2004, 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 faba bean and 2004, 2005 and 2006 cowpea growing seasons to study the seasonal abundance of Aphis craccivora Koch and its aphidophagous insects on the two aforementioned crops. The obtained results are summarized as follows :1.On faba bean plants1.1. Seasonal abundance of Aphis craccivora KochA. craccivora infests faba bean plants from the 3rd week of November till the 4th week of March , from 3rd week of November till the 1st week of April and from the beginning of December till the end of March in the first, second and third seasons, respectively. The aphid populations attained distinct peaks of 3840, 5000 and 5283 aphids/ sample in the 2nd week of December, 3rd week of December and 5th week of December in the first, second and third seasons, successively.The highest total monthly numbers of the aphid was recorded during December in the three seasons, while the lowest ones took place during March, April and March in the first, second and third seasons, respectively. The aphid populations indicated means of 950.15, 874.70 and 1055.78 individuals / sample during the three successive seasons.
