Abstract:
This experiment was conducted to study the effect of feeding types (continuous, diurnal or nocturnal) on growth performance, some nutritional parameters, carcass traits and economic efficiency of broiler chicks, using completely randomized design during the starter (from 1 – 3 weeks of age), grower (from 3 to 5 weeks of age) and finisher period (from 5 to 7 weeks of age). Results obtained showed that broiler chicks maintained under continuous feeding system showed significantly (P<0.05) higher body weight, daily weight gain, feed consumption and best feed conversion than the other chicks maintained under the other feeding systems. Continuous feeding type significantly (P<0.05) increased the weight of carcass and edible parts. It could be concluded that the continuous feeding type had the best effects on the most of the traits studied. On the other hand, the nocturnal feeding showed better results when compared with those of diurnal feeding.
