The mutagenicity was done by prophage induction of Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains through a known technique. The number of plaque forming unit, transduction, clear plaques, and survival percent were detected as indications for mutagenicity.1. Mutagenic activity of 2-NP :The α-tocopherol (Vitamin E) and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) showed no mutagenic response or even a reduction in survival percentages was detected. While, the highest mutagenic response of 2-NP was recorded with 25µg/ml. 1.2. Mutagenic inhibition of 2-NP by α-tocopherol and ascorbic acid:- <The α-tocopherol and ascorbic acid caused a concentration-dependent decrease in the mutagenic activity, when the assay was carried out at a constant level of 25µg/mL of 2-NP, which gives highest mutagenic activity. Meaning that α-tocopherol and ascorbic acid as an antioxidants were effective against mutagenicity of 2-NP in bacteria1.3. Mutagenic inhibition of 2-NP by fruit juice: The different fruit juice as source to vitamins caused a concentration-dependent decrease in the mutagenic activity, when the assay was carried out at a constant level of 25µg/mL of 2-NP, which gives highest mutagenic activity. Meaning that fruit juice as an antioxidant was effective against mutagenicity of 2-NP in bacteria the present study we recommended the following guidelines:7.1. 2-NP occupational exposure and its presence in consumer products such as paints and varnishes should be minimized.7.2. 2-NP should be replaced by a less toxic solvent whenever practical.7.3. Minimization of non-occupational exposure.7.4. 2-NP should not be used in food processing.7.5. Vitamins E, C and fruit juices should be given daily to workers exposed to 2-NP in workplace.7.6. It is recommended to give up smoking.7.7. Smokers must take antioxidants daily such as vitamin E, C and fruit juices.
