Abstract:
Two field experiments were carried out in the Station of National Research Center at Shalkan, Kalubia, Egypt during 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 seasons to study the effect of bio and mineral nitrogen fertilizer on sugar yield and yield attributes as well as quality of three sugar beet cultivars. The results indicated the superiority of Baraka cultivar in no. of leaves/plant; root length; root diameter; blades, petioles and root dry weight; plant dry weight; LA/plant; LAI; CGR; RGR; root yield and top yield. However, Demapoly cultivar gave the highest sugar yield/fad; sucrose% and T.S.S.%.Inoculation sugar beet with Rhizobacterin caused significant increase in most growth characters as well as sugar yield/fad; sucrose%; purity%; blades dry weight/plant and petioles dry weight/plant.Application of 50 or 100 kg N/fad tended to increase most growth characters as well as sugar yield/fad; root yield/fad; sucrose content%; T.S.S.%; purity%; top yield/fad; top/root ratio; number of leaves/plant; root diameter; top dry weight/plant and root dry weight/plant.Correlation analysis showed positive and significant relationships between gross sugar yield/fad and all yield components.Path analysis indicated that root yield/fad and sucrose content as well as their interaction were the main sources of gross sugar yield/fad.Regression analysis revealed that the response of gross sugar yield to application mineral nitrogen was quadratic relationship for the three cultivars under both treated and untreated plants with Rhizobacterin.
