Abstract:
sion Field experiment was carried out through three successive agricultural seasons of 2001, 2002 and 2003 at El Gemmiza village, Gharbia Governorate to evaluate the performance of mechanical hole digging with post hole digger comparing with manual digging to establish grape orchard. The objectives of this work are:- Evaluation of the power requirement for soil preparing.- Evaluation of the power requirement for hole digging.- Selecting the optimum conditions suitable for hole digging operations.- Comparing productivity and cost under digging holes systems.Digging process were carried out at different revolution speeds of 100, 150, 200 rpm (2.09, 3.14 and 4.19 m/sec) and different moisture contents of 25, 20, 14%.This experiment was divided into two stages the first stage was carried out in an area of 1.0 feddan contains soil preparing and digging holes at three moisture contents and three revolution speeds for post hole digger to determine the suitable auger revolution speed and soil moisture content which give optimum hole shape suitable for planting grape..
