Abstract:
The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of different types of phosphatic fertilizers and P levels on the content of P, Zn, Mn, Pb and Cd in different soils of Egypt. In addition, the growth and uptake of P, Zn, Mn, Pb and Cd by alfalfa were investigated. Treatments consisted of all combinations of three types of phosphatic fertilizers (single superphosphate, SSP, triple superphosphate, TSP, and rock phosphate, RP) and six application levels of P (0, 45, 90, 135, 180 and 450 Kg P fed-1) were added to the soil samples in the pots. Rock phosphate was more effective in reducing Pb content than SSP and TSP at El-Zani I and El-Zani II. The total concentration of Cd in different soils exception sandy soil is closely related to the period of cultivation. The values could be arranged descending order as follows: El-Asfar I > El-Zani I > El-Asfar II > El-Zani
