Abstract:
The main purpose of this investigation is to study the tolerance of wheat cultivars to high concentrations of boron and their effects on anatomical structure of some wheat cultivars differed in their tolerance to B.The aim of this experiment is to study the effect of different concentrations of boron on germination rate (GR), germination percent (GP) and germination strength (G S) of wheat cultivars in sand culture according to Anon. (1976). Four wheat cultivars i.e., Sakha 8, Sakha 69, Sakha 93 and Sids 1 were seeded in plastic cups and treated with 0, 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 40 and 80 ppm boron in the form of boric acid. The following results were obtained:- For all tested grain cultivars of wheat the adverse effect of high levels of boron on germination test gave the following order, Sakha 69 < Sakha 8 < Sakha 93 < Sids 1.- The shoot and root lengths of Sakha 69 was less affected with high levels of boron than the other wheat cultivars.- It was selected two wheat cultivars i.e., Sakha 69 and Sids 1 which showed a relatively tolerance and a relatively sensitive to high levels of boron, respectively.
