Abstract:
There are many factors affecting the rearing and production of honeybee queens. these factors may be summarized as follows : acceptance and sealing of queen cells, characteristics of queen cells, weight of newly emerged queens, characteristics of associated workers, maturity of drones, nutrition (pollen and honey0 brood rearing type of mating boxes and the seasonal variations. The Major interest of this investigation was to Study some of these factors under assiut conditions and to evaluate their interactions. the effect of ortificial feeding on the previous factors was taken in consideration to throw some light on a suitable diet for queen cells building colonies to obtain queens in good quality. The internal characteristics of newly emerged queens and the drones at respective ages were also taken into considerations. Moreover, the biochemical analysis of newly emerged queens, nurse workers and royal jelly secreted and drones were also considered.
