Abstract:
The present work aims to throw light on the situation and size of terrestrial gastropod pests in Egypt, in order to establish useful integrated pest management program (IPM).To achieve this goal, the following points were carried out: A-Ecological studies on terrestrial gastropods infesting different crops in Dakahlia Governorate: 1-Occurrence and population density of land snails and slugs in Dakahlia Governorate. 2- Prominence value of terrestrial gastropods infesting major crops in Dakahlia Governorate. 3- Seasonal population behavior of Monacha cartusiana and Deroceras reticulatum on certain field and vegetable crops in Dakahlia Governorate B- Biological studies on certain terrestrial gastropods in Dakahlia Governorate 1- Number of clutches, clutch size and total number of eggs laid by pair of certain slug species. 2- Life cycle of certain slug species under laboratory conditions. 3-Effect of temperature on egg hatching and incubation period of three slug species under laboratory conditions. 4-Observation on life cycle of M. cartusiana under field conditions. 5-Number of clutch and eggs laid by M. cartusiana and D. reticulatum under field conditions C- Control studies:1- Molluscicidal activity of certain pesticides against adults of D. reticulatum using different methods under laboratory conditions. 2- Ovicidal activity of certain pesticides against eggs of D. reticulatum. 3- Molluscicidal activity of carbofuran and metaldehyde against D. reticulatum under field conditions.
