Genetical Studies On Drought Tolerance In Rice

This study aimed to investigate the evaluation of local and interoduced varieties and mutant lines for drough resistance, as well as,the genetic nature of drough resistance and yeild components under submergence and drought resistance and components under submergence and drought coditions in rice. The drought resistance was assessed on the basis of the differences in visual drought symptoms,strility present root and shoot dry weights . Osmootic pressure and proline content as highly correlated characters with it ( O` Toole and Maya, 1978; Haque et al., 1989 ; O` toole and maguuling, 1981 and Bates et al., 1973).
