Abstract:
Three new pyrrolizidine alkaloids, echilumiline, pycananthine and echihumiline N-oxide, were isolated from Echium humile and their structures determined by spectroscopic methods. In addition, we record the presence of the known alkaloids, 7-senecioylretronecine, 9-senecioylretronecine, lycopsamine and 7-acetyl-lycopsamine. The tetrahydro-isoquinoline alkaloid, carnegine, was reduced for the first time in the Boraginaceae.
