Abstract:
In Egypt, farm animals suffer from a serious shortage of feedstuffs, particularly in summer time. The Quantities available of concentrates are limited and the Quantities of roughages, weat straw and ricostraw not enough to cover the bulk required by animal poulation and their prices are shooting high. Under these circumstances, sheep population faces competition with other livestock and usually it is not given the priority. Generally, it was proposed to increase conentrate production by incroporation of starchy feeds, i.e. maize, cassava... etc. and urea in the formulas. The inclusion of urea in the concentrate formula to replace 50 % of cottonseed cake nitrogen will increase the concentrate production in the country to 1.6 million tons instead of 800.000 tons presently prodduced ( El-Shazly. 1978 ). In the present study it was aimed to invest the previous approaches in formulation of relatively cheap whole rations suitable for fattening of male lambs which supply both energy and required by rhe young male lambs.
