Abstract:
Trends to use increased proportions of conceNtrate feeds in ruminant diets have been reported to affect the efficiency of nutrients utilization for milk production. The present work is carried out to study the effect of various roughage to concentrate ratios on milk production and composition in egYptian buffaloes. From the results obtained it is found that milk yield is increased by increasing concentrate ratio in buffaloes’ rations. There is a decrease in milk yield when rations contain as much as 95% concentrates. Average values given for dailY milk yield are 3.75 , 4.56 , 4.81 and 4.42 for 0,40 80 and 95% of their energy requirements from concentrates and the rest from roughages.
