Abstract:
The present work aims to study the energy and protein requirements of fattening lambs with the hope of improving their performance by proper nutrition. Also the determination of the proper nutritive ratio and duration of fattening period where economical gains are achieved, are investigated. The materials used in the present study are 54 male Rahmani lambs averaging 20 week old and 22 kg. Body weight, are subjected to three levels of both energy and protein. The experimental period lasted 236 days till the average weight of the control animals reached 56 kg. The results obtained indicate that under conditions of feed scarcity, link normal farming or desert conditions, the low energy with high protein or even with the medium or low protein levels are to be recommended.
