Abstract:
Practical experience and scientific experiments have all shown that nitrogen fertilizers should be added to most crops growing on soils more of ten than any other plant nutrient . One side of this element and the other may be attributed to the specific nutritional requirments of growing plants . With the possible exception of soils in the wet temperate zoneof the world, most soils do not contain an appreciable amount of organic material . It may be that the addition of organic residues to the soil is too little or that the decomposition rate of added organic residues to the soil is too fast . The present work is endeavored to investigate the losses of nitrogen fertilizers by leaching from the soils of Egypt . Actual field studies will be presented, and losses from several micro and macro soil systems will be evaluated.
