Abstract:
The Present study was carried out to throw some light on the effect of heat stress on friesion calves performance. Two techniques for amilioration of the negative effects of the heat stress on the animals were also studied.Yhe first was supplementation of heat stressed friesian calves with urea and mineral mixture. The second was cooling via sprinkling and drinking cool water. The change in each of live body weight, growth rate, total body water, total body solids and daily body gain were studied. Some blood componants which are related to animal growth were also considered to compare the effectiveness of both techniques used on reducing the heat load on friesian calves.
