Abstract:
Sandy soils are generally lacking in factors essential for fertility, being generally characterized by a very low moisture holding capacity, poor plant nutrients, and a scrcity of organic matter. Those soil factors which have an inverse effect in limiting soil productivity , necessitate irrigation at short intervals and prevent rapid washing out of plant nutrients from the soil to get high efficiency of both water use and chemical fertilization in these soils Therefore , the aim of the present investigation is to Outline and asses the basic relations between some soil properties, nutrients status in soil and plant, crop production and water use efficiency as influenced by different soil and water management practices.
