Abstract:
Sheep population in the summs up to 2.45 million heads according to the last census of 1982. Sheep are raised mainly as acavenger animals. Such low productive system does not economically fit with the highly intensive agriculture system prevailed area. Ministry of Agriculture planed intensive lamb production system to be applied for Rahmani and Ossimi local valley breeds. The system involves the introduction of 25% of the finn blood to the local breeds toraise their prolificacy, The crossbred ewes should bred each 8 months The crossbred ewes can be used also as a dam line to be mated Suffolk crossbred rams as terminal sire for slaughter lamb production. The present work aim to evaluate fattening and carcass performance of The resulted crossbred lambs VS. the local Rahmani and Ossimi lambs.
