Evaluation Of Drainage as Additional Resource for Irrigation In Sharkia Governorare

The present study was conducted to evaluate the drainage water as additional source for irrigation in Sharkia Governorate.Samples from rain water were collected monthly (for a year round) and chemically analysed for different constituents.Also,informations were collected about the quantity of irrigation and drainage water for the whole Sharkia Governorate.The present investigation discussed the analytical data of each drainseparately to assess its quality for irrigation and that took into considration the proper ties of soils which would be irrigated by this water. Statistical analysis was conducted to correlate different properties of drainage water. The present study stresses the need for improvement and maintainance of the drainage system specially the pumping stations because their poor condition have caused soil deterioration and accordingly, salinity and akalinty problems arose. the present status of the drainage water contributes very much to the soil problem and that leads to postulate a scientific way in using the drainage water where type of plant and soil must be included side by side with water quality.
