Abstract:
Sulphur is one of the essential nutrients for plant nutrition. It is generally added to the soil as orgatnic sulphur or as an associated. anion SO4 with different cations in the fertilizers such as potassium sulphate, ammonium sulphate or calcium sulphate contained in superphosphate. study sulphur status by determining the values of its different form in the soil samples collected to rep--resent the soilsof Sharkiya Governorate. Also, the chemical behaviour is taken into consideration by studying some factors affecting sulphur oxidation and sulphate adsorption. The elemental sulpure and calcium sulphate are of the forms that can be applied and are more used as they are not toxic to plants. Usally the two are used in the relamation ofaalkali soils. When elemental sulphur is employed the soil, it produces acicity through to sulphoric acid.
