Abstract:
Most of the studies of trace elements were mainly concerned with their contribution to the fertility status various soils. Reviewing the previous work on the geochemistry of trace elements has devoted attention to the possible use of these elements in the differentiation between geological sedimentsmay act as a parent material for soils, thus exerting certain properties on the soil matrix, which in turn are reworked or modified by the prevalent soil forming factors. The current study points to an evaluation of the trace elements distribution in the various soil types recognized in Egypt. It is essentially a trial to search for evidence pertaning to relationship between soil taxonomic groups and their content of the trac elements, Cu,Zn, Fe and Mn or their association. In other words, it is an attempt to use trace elements as criterion for soil genesis and formation. To cope with this aim, 23 profiles were chosen to represent the various soil types encountered along the Mediterranean coastal littoral, the delta region, the Nile Valley, Sinai peninsula and the High Dam Lake Region . These soil profiles were considered the stone angle for the present study.
