Abstract:
Alfalfa is considered a high quality pasture compared to other local forages. Therefore, feeding programmes for farm livestock including sheep in this area, should be based largely on green alfalfa. However, the availability of alfalfa varies from time to time due to some fluctuations in its productivity along the year. This situution sometimes necessitates applying a supplementary feeding to feeder animals to cover all nutritional requirements , particularly, during fatting procedures . The ratio of supplements to alfalfa would depond mainly on their availability and relative prices. The present study dealt chiefly with the Effect of two pectors foeed intake and fattening performace of crossbred merino lambs, namely, the level of concetrates in diet and the daily time allowed for the consumption of olfaalfa fed fresh.
