Studies On Chicken Hybrids For Meat Production

In Egypt , there is no local meat type, neither from as in denmark nor from crossbreds as in U.A. A. or Europe. The trials carried out to produce such type were undeliable from either the performance or the economical points of view.The foreign meat type breeds of white Plmouth Rock ( WPR ) and cornish ( c ) were introduced to Egypt , with other light and duel purpose breeds, in the year 1954. The present study was conducted to find out the possibility of producing broilers either from the previously mentioned pure breeds or from their crosses or back crosses It was worthy to study the performance of these broiler types on relatively high protein and energy levels ( 23 % CP and 2948 ME Kcal/Kg.) as imprved diet and on low protein and energy levels ( 19 % Cp and 2572 ME Kcal / Kg. ) as control diet under the prevailing climatic conditions of winter (s1 ) and spring (S2 ) hatches at Gimmizah Experimental staion, poultry farm , Tanta, Egypt.The effect of breed type, diet type and hatching season on each of body, weight, body measurements and dressing weight and percentage was studied and statistically onalyed on fectorial random block dicesign basis.
