Abstract:
It was the objective of this work to study the reaction of phosphorus with some Egyptian soils These, by definition, fall into the alkaline range. Two sets of experiments were carried out. The frist was designed to elucidate the nature of phosphorus adsorption by soils using the lingmuir equation. The second was designed to investigate the transformation of monocalcium phosphate monohydrate which is the active ingridient of superphosphate in soils. A special technique was utilized in this experiment to avoid the surface effects of the soil constituents. X-ray diffraction as well as conventional chemical analysis were used for phasa identification.
