Abstract:
All the amounts of D-mannitol used in U. A. R. till now are imported . It has long been known that several microorganisms can produce D-mannitol. they are considered as special agents considered as specialagents converting certain sugars into hexitol . It was thought that the use of certain by-products such as molasses, certain products such as corn sirup, or certain raw material such as girasol, for the biological production of D-mannitol could be of industrial value . Thus, this study began as an attempt to investigate the production of D-mannitol by several molds and bacteria from different pure sugars and the possibility of utilising different sources rich in sugars for its production.
