Abstract:
It is generally accepted that the best results in growth and production could be obtained when the pattern ofingested amino acids meet the requirements of animalbody. While increasing an amino acid or reducing another might impair growth and production as a result of the adverse effects in the efficiency of protein utilization. Attempts were made to overcome the difficulties offormulating balanced poultry rations. One of these attempts was made by supplementing growing chick and layer basal rations wlth amino acids to improve the quality of crade protein in the ration. Supplementation of lysine and otber essential amino acids to basal rations was found to affect growth rate andfeed utilization as well as, egg production, egg weight and other characters of laying performance, in different breed types of poultry. However, Hartel al. (1969) and Cmiljan1c(1970) claimed that the effect of amino aoids on growth depended on se of dietary protein. .The prosent work wos conducted to study the effect of supplementation the basal ration of poultry by different iysine levels on growth and loying performace of the local fayoumi breed types. The effect of interactionbetween breed type and ration on growth and laying perormance was also studied.
