Moisture Characteristics of the Soils of Sharkiya Governorate

Soils consider the main source of soils of A.R.E. differ in their origin, this difference in origin lead to the difference of the mechanical and structure composition of these soils. The latter two lead the difference of different soils in their physical properties, especially the moisture characteristics of soil as the difference in total water capacity and the drainage capacity of soils. This determines the type and nature of plant growth. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to determinr the moisture characteristics of some sharkyia governorate soils and their rela-tion with different physical properties. For this purpose representative forty three from the Skarkiya region varying in texture were chosen, sampled and analysed. for the following characteristics (a) moisture status, (b) moisture constants, (c) water flow, ( d) expansion and plasticity number. the correlation of both texture and structure to soil moisture characteristics were evaluated.
