Abstract:
In Egypt, farm animals suffer from a serious shortage of feedstuffs, particulary in summer time. The Qantities avalable of cocentrates are limited and the quantities of roughages, wheat straw and rice straw are not enough to cover the bulk required by animal population and their prices are shooting high. Under these circumstances, sheep population faces competition with other livestock and usually it is not given the priority. Nevrtheless, mutton is still a popular kind of meat and there is a big demand for buying fattened male lambs on certain seasons like the Adha feast. To supply the demands for mutton, some means of furnishing non-traditional feeds to fatten male lambs efficiently in short time, should be seeked. In the present study it was aimed to invest the the previous approaches in formulation of relatively cheap whole retions suitable for fatening of male lambs which supply both energy and bulk required by the young male lambs.
