Abstract:
In arid and semi arid areas such aa those in Egypt and Arab countries, grazing animals are faced with seasonal feed and water insufficiency . In the dry season, sheep travel through arid areas in search for food and usually watered only once every three or four days. However, the studies showed that water deprivation might be beneficial to the animal, especially in term of nitrogen economy or in promoting efficient energy utilization. This induced someathors to advocata deliberate water deprivation under farm condition in order to improve the efficiency of feed utilization . In addition water deprivation had beneficial effects on the use of ures dissolved in the drinking as a nitrogen supplement .The present work was carried out to study the effects of some factors influencing the utilization of urea nitrogen given through drinking water and the effect of intermittent water intake in sheep fed low protein rations.
