Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism,of transdution (transmission a genetic material from one bacterium to another via phage) between pseudomonas aeruginosa strain in situ under the Egyptian environmental conditions. In the first part, influence of different mono, di, and tri-valent cations on prophage induction from lysogen and on transducing methionine gene under laboratory conditions was determined. In the second part, the investigation of streptomycin resistance gene transfer in a local river, Mowas in Zagazig City, has been studied. High frequency of gene transfer by lysogen-mediated transduction in both the laboratory and the in situe experiments showed that transduction is a potentially important mechanism of gene transfer in nature.
