A Program for teaching Arabic based on Verbal Collocations and the Semantic Map Strategy to Develop Oral and Written Fluency Skills of Primary School Students Prepared by Dr. Essam Mohamed Abdo Khattab Dr. Radi Fawzy Hanafi Morsi Abstract The research aimed to develop the oral and written fluency skills of primary school pupils through a program based on verbal collocations and the semantic map strategy. To this end, the oral and written fluency skills that are appropriate for the fourth-grade students were identified, and a test and an observation sheet were designed to measure the oral fluency skills of the participants. The quasi-experimental design consisting of two groups was used: An experimental group(22) and a control one(22). The participants were selected from the students of the fourth grade of primary school. The program based on verbal syndromes and the strategy of semantic maps, a teacher's guide and a student's booklet to practice the language activities necessary to develop oral and written fluency skills were prepared. The experiment was implemented in the second semester of the academic year 2021/2022. The pre-and posttest was administered to the participants. Results revealed that there was a statistically significant difference at the level (0.01) between the mean score of the students of the control and that of the experimental group in the post administration of the test of oral fluency skills as a whole in favor of the experimental group. They also showed that there was a statistically significant difference at the level (0.01) between the mean score of the students of the control group and that of experimental group in the post administration of the written fluency skills test as a whole in favor of the These results substantiate the importance of using the program to develop the oral and written fluency skills of primary school pupils.
