Sixth research Tartrazine-Induced Testicular Damage in Adult Male Albino Rats: Histopathological Evaluation and Protective Role of Taurine ABSTRACT Background: Tartrazine is a synthetic food coloring that causes oxidative stress in rats. Taurine is an essential homeostatic mediator that serves a variety of purposes to provide defense against oxidative stress. Aim of study: to highlight the possible beneficial effects of Taurine in mitigating the histological alterations of the testis after exposure to tartrazine in rat model. Material and methods: Twenty adult male albino rats In this study, rats were employed. There were four groups of rats. Each contains five rats: Group I (Negative Control): Every rat was given only water and food orally for 30 days. Group II (Positive Control): Every rat was given taurine at a dose of 100 mg/kg/day orally by gavage for 30 days. Group III (Treated): Rats were given tartrazine at a dose of 100 mg/kg/day dissolved in distilled water by oral gavage for 30 days. Group IV (Protected): Rats received both tartrazine at a dose of 100 mg/kg/day and taurine at a dose of 100 mg/kg/day orally by gavage for 30 days. Samples of blood, semen and testicles were gathered for biochemical and histopathological analysis. Result: The body weight, serum testosterone, sperm count, motility, and other parameters were all reduced in tartrazine-treated mice. Moreover, testicular atrophic changes as warped seminiferous tubule, resting on irregular basement membrane Sertoli cell, disengaged spermatogenic cells, also found Spermatogenic cells including many exfoliating pyknotic or irregular darkly stained nuclei, empty spaces when compared to either medication given alone, taurine co-treatment of tartrazine rats successfully reduced the previously listed parameters. Conclusion: Following tartrazine, taurine's antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties played a protective role in reducing the metabolic and structural alterations in the testes.
