Abstract:
Large quanties of agricultural residues with low feed values exist throughout the world. At present most of these materials are not only wasting natural resources but also an important sources of environmental pollution. The principle of this method was that chopped or ground straw was sprayed with a strong NaOH solution and mixed well before being pellted through a rang dye press. The heat developed in the press accelerated the reaction between the roughage and alkali and recovered som of moisture added. The pellets or cubes produced from such methods are more econmical to transport and store. The difference in response to chemical treatment on some materials asmeasured by in vivo results of ruminant and non - ruminant herbivores.
