This study evaluated the antibacterial and antibiofilm activities of the phage-derived endolysin LysEf-9 and a crude bacteriocin against multidrug-resistant and phage-resistant Enterococcus strains. LysEf-9 exhibited broad lytic activity, stability over a wide range of pH and temperatures, and effectively reduced bacterial viability. Combination therapy using LysEf-9 with either crude bacteriocin or a lytic phage produced significantly greater reductions in planktonic cells and established biofilms than individual treatments. These findings demonstrate that combining endolysin with bacteriocins or bacteriophages is a promising strategy for controlling multidrug-resistant and phage-resistant enterococcal infections.
