Abstract:
The present work was carried out to deal with the disease survey, isolation and identification of the causal organism of the brown stem rot disease. The effect of some factors including inoculum potential and plant age on the disease incidence were also studied. The interrelationship between soybean cultivars and the disease severity, under Egyptian conditions, was undertaken. The alternations in chemical constituent caused by the disease, were also studied. The histopathological studies has been also carried out to reveal the effect of the fungus and it’s filterate on the different tissues of the susceptible and resistant soybean cultivars. On the other hand, the chemical and biological controls of the disease under laboratory, greenhouse, and field conditions, were also investigated.
