Abstract:
Buffaloes are considered as the most important farm animals, In Egypt. Its population represents about 50 % of cattle and buffaloes, according to the counts of the Ministry of Agriculture, 1985. Raising the Egyptian buffaloes is more advantageous than that of cattle under the Egyptian conditions, due to their ability for production of milk in quality and quantity, high ability for utilization of coares rouphage , thriveness and resistance to diseases. The studies of the normal behaviour and the daily activities of buffaloes may be useful in improving some faults in management. However, such studies under the Egyptian. environments, are scanty. The present study aimed to throw some light on.behavioural pattern activities (grazing, feeding, rumination, drinking, wallowing, urination and defaecation) of buffaloes, under different types of management, i,e set stocking and close folding systems, loose housing and conventional tie barn systems. Density, of animals was also put in consideration. Growth rate, daily gain, milk yield and rectal temperature were also recorded.
